Hashy Terms
- Are you? A call of a hasher to others as in, 'Are you on the trail?'
- Beer Master Mismanagement member who is responsible for refreshments; also known as "Beermeister"
- Beer Near As in, the Beer Stop; indicated by a trailmark (BN)
- Beer Stop A Milan tradition that leads the pack into a pub at some point within a hash; indicated by the trailmark (BS)
- Checkback A call of a FRB after spotting a trailmark (line of flour) that indicates a false trail
- Checking A call of a hasher when looking for the trail
- Checkpoint A point on the trail indicated by a circle, typically at an intersection, where the direction is uncertain
- Circle As in, "the circle": a cermony that takes place at the end of every hash where select hashers are awarded down-downs for hash deeds and misdeeds
- Down-Down The ceremony of consuming beverages (an honor) and poking fun at hashers
- Down-Downs Obligatory consumptions of beverages by hashers after the trail
- Flour The substance used to mark the trail; sometimes mixed with cornmeal for snow trails.
- Front Running Bastard (FRB) Fast runner(s) who tend to lead the pack, hit the false trails, and finish first
- Grand Master (GM) Mismanagement member who leads/follows the Hash Group
- Haberdasher Mismanagement member in charge of Hash kit like t-shirts, shorts, etc.
- Hare The hasher who lays the trail
- Hareline Roster of events
- Hash Abbreviation for Hash House Harriers
- Hash Cash Mismanagement who manages the finances; or a honorary designation for a specific hash
- Hash Etiquette Also known as the 'Rules' of which there are no rules (see "Rules").
- Hash Horn A horn or bugle blown to guide the pack
- Hash House The original Hash House in Kuala Lumpur, or any place used as a Hash 'base'
- Hash House Harrier Any hasher
- Hash Scribe Mismanagement member who writes Hash Trash
- Hash Trash Reports on the runs including stories, down-down notes and member gibberish. Strictly speaking trash is the stuff for setting trails (e.g., shredded paper...but I suppose shredded hash write-ups could cover that).
- Hasher Member or members of any Hash House Harrier Club
- Hashing The act of running a hash trail
- Interhash A gathering of Hashers at world hash events. ONLY WORLD ...anything else with "Interhash" is a mis-nomer. Interhash Africa is Inter-Africa, for example, but WhoGAS (who gives a shit).
- Live Hare A hasher who lays the trail LIVE as s/he goes, with the pack minutes behind
- Mismanagement Hash officials; sometimes elected, sometimes appointed
- Mother Hash Kuala Lumpur Hash House Harriers, first organized in 1938
- M-word A euphemism for "marathon"
- ON! ON! A call of a hasher when a flour mark is spotted
- On-Back A call shouted by FRBs to the pack when FRBs encounter a checkback
- ON-Called A call by hashers who have not seen a (flour) mark, but heard 'ON-ON¹ yelled by others who have; used to direct the pack.
- On-In A call by hashers or a trailmark that indicates he trail's end.
- On-Inn The place where liquid or solid food is to be consumed after the circle.
- On-Out The call to get everyone out of the bar or whever in order to start the r*n.
- On-Up A call that indicates a challenge in the trail (Also used: On-Around; On-Down; On-Over; On-Through; On-Under, etc.)
- Religious Adviser (RA) Mismanagement member who blesses and inspires the hash, organizes the weather and is in charge of the circle.
- Respect A call to demand reverential attitude toward whomever is trying to be heard during the circle.
- Rules Universally-understood tenet of acceptable hash behavior, otherwise known as tradition or hash etiquette. Rule # 1: "There are no rules" except Rule #7: "No Poofters on the hash". The exception might be a Red Dress R*n...but that is another story.
- Song Stop (S) A point(s) along the trail when hashers must stop and sing a Hash Song; often used to pull the pack together
- Shiggy Pig shite often adapted to include: wet mud, streams, swamps, jungle swamp, or generally environmental conditions that encourage a significant accumulation of dirt and muck

- Short-Cutting The act of attempting to short-cut the trail
- Short-Cutting Bastard (SCB) A habitual short-cutter; a desirable label in most hashes
